A fleece tracksuit and polyester sweatpants serve different purposes, and the trousers on this page cover both. There are also smarter woven trousers and referee trousers, available in men's, women's, and children's cuts, for both the field and the city.
Each type serves a different purpose. The jogging bottoms, made from fleece or French Terry, are designed for comfort at home, on the move, or in the city. The tracksuit bottoms, made from finer polyester, are great for warming up and sitting on the bench as they dry quickly and resist chafing. Finally, woven trousers are more like chinos or tailored trousers and are worn outside of sports.
The majority of the models on this page are joggers, but the other types are worth checking out if you are looking for a more versatile piece.
The bottom of the trousers completely changes its silhouette. A cuffed bottom stays in place above the shoe and doesn’t drag on the floor, making it the most common choice for sports. A straight or open bottom falls over the shoe, giving a more dressed-up look.
Some tracksuit bottoms have a zip at the calf, handy for putting them on or taking them off without removing your shoes. Three-quarter models stop just below the knee.
A warm-up trouser should come off quickly and not restrict movement. Choose lightweight polyester with a drawstring that you can wear during the first shots before switching to shorts.
Refs have more specific needs: black trousers, simple, in lightweight fabric that stay in place during sprints along the line. The Referee trousers from Spalding, made from woven polyester with a bit of elastane, meet this requirement.
These brands are the ones that customers on the site choose most for bottoms.
To get your trousers cheaper, check out the deals pages. The deals section lists current discounts, and the clearance section features the last sizes available. The Black Friday textile event arrives before the holidays, followed by the Christmas textile page, and then the sales take over.
Trousers easily find their partners in other categories.
A pair of tapered joggers should stop just above the shoe, without excessive folds. Measure your inseam and compare it to the size guide on the product page. If you’re between two lengths, the cuff can absorb a little excess.
Not in a match, where shorts are the norm. However, lightweight trousers are fine during warm-ups, when shooting outdoors in cold weather, or during technical training. Choose breathable polyester rather than fleece for that.
Both are cotton knits. French Terry retains small loops on the inside, making it lighter and more breathable. Brushed fleece has a brushed back, softer and warmer, better suited for cold days.
A little, especially if it goes in the tumble dryer. Wash it at thirty degrees and let it air dry to limit this. Blended models with polyester don’t shrink as much.
It’s not mandatory, but it’s easier to get matching colours. Many ranges sell both pieces separately, allowing you to choose different sizes on top and bottom. Otherwise, the tracksuit page offers complete sets.
